Wollongong Underwater Hockey 4s Comp 2015

The 2015 Wollongong Underwater Hockey 4s Competition took place on 18th April 2015 and it was a roaring success. With over 60 players (from different states and countries) and 13 teams there was plenty of quick fast underwater action happening. Wreck Diving at Truk Lagoon

Did a dive trip to Truk Lagoon which is considered to be the diving capital of the world. With over 60 vessels sunken there, always 26.6 degree Celsius water and often calm waters we could easily see why this is one of the best wreck diving locations in the world!

Macquaries Pass Canyon

On Australia Day, a group of us went Canyoning at Macquaries Pass National Park. It’s a fun canyon which is close to Wollongong.

2012 MS 24hr Mega Swim in Wollongong

On the weekend of 3rd/4th March 2012, the Annual MS 24hr Mega Swim in Wollongong too place. It rained for the most part of the event, but that did not stop the 18 teams from completing their 24hr swim. Here are photos and video from the event.

Inaugural 24hr MS Mega Swim in Wollongong

Last weekend was the inaugural MS 24hr Mega Swim at URAC. It was a hugely successful event and they exceeded their targeted fundraising goals, raising almost $40,000.
There were around 17 teams, each team can have no more than 15 members and there has to be someone from the team swimming for the entire 24hr duration.

How to Train Harder for Longer

Do you normally feel sore after a training run or running event? And does that muscle soreness linger around for days preventing you from getting back into running?

Well Grant from RecoveryWork recently did the New York Marathon. He hasn’t been training for distances greater than 30km (18.6miles) prior to the race, but using his recovery technique, he was able to get back on his feet quickly and experienced no muscle soreness following the marathon.

Did our first hike from Heathcote to Waterfall. We decided to do it in the opposite direction as what the hiking guide book suggested and ended up doing the wrong route. Still a good hike and it gives us another reason to go back and do another hiking trip there.

Should I be a PADI Rescue Diver

Should you become a Rescue Diver? Over the weekend when I was at the harbour, the seas picked up considerably when we finished the dive and there were huge waves crashing over the breakwater. The conditions changed dramatically compared to when we first went into the water. It made me realise the benefits of the rescue diver program and how it make divers more confident and prepared and I would recommend the course to everyone to further improve their diving skills.

Running Apps in Airplane Mode

Running Apps in Airplane Mode

This morning, I decided to try doing a run with my iPhone in Airplane mode. I did this because I wanted to see how accurate the GPS positioning will be when in that mode and whether it is a viable sports tracking tool when you are overseas (with no global roaming). I used 4 running apps and compared how they fair when recording a run without cellular connectivity.
